LBYWA is an important part of our educational and community outreach program. Since 2010, Juvenilia Press, in partnership with the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, UNSW and Randwick City Council, has been involved with this exciting creative writing initiative; a literary institution in the eastern suburbs, which has grown to include schools from across Sydney.

This bi-annual writing competition is open to students from Years 3 to 12, and this year’s theme is “A City for Tomorrow”.

Submissions of poetry and short stories will be shortlisted by a Randwick City Library panel. UNSW Creative Writing Lecturer and author Roanna Gonsalves will select the winning entries, to be published in a book by Juvenilia Press.

An Awards Ceremony and Book Launch will be held in November at UNSW, with JP Director and General Editor Christine Alexander among the guest speakers. Winners will receive various prizes, including JP books, and a complimentary copy of the 2020 LBYWA book.
